With a beautiful Friday free for both Pat “Perry” Johnson and I, a stroll around some Front Range 13ers seemed to be just what the doctor ordered. T-shirt weather in the alpine doesn’t come around too often this late in the season and we relished the warm weather all day. We made our way from Peru Creek to the summit of Mt. Edwards and then we were off to Argentine Peak. After a quick break at the summit we headed to Mt. Wilcox via its rolling ridge. Looking to get our class 3 fix, Pat Johnson and I decided that the Sawtooth traverse between Mt. Bierstadt and Mt. Evans was good to go. We made our way from the trailhead around 5:45 AM and worked our way to the summit of Bierstadt. Ascended Mt. Silverheels, a centennial 13er, from Hoosier Pass. A lot of good terrain for the winter months exists around it.
